It happened just like that!

I am switched on and tuned up, when scanning the band I hear a  CW cq -.-. --.- I was already geared up with the key connected as I was practicing earlier so I switched the Yaesu 450D into CW mode and replied to the call. It was a spur of the moment reaction and I immediately received a response and a few minutes later my first CW call was in the bag and later confirmed.

So why during the many months of learning CW did I not get on the air. I think it was that normal human reaction of being afraid to mess up and make mistakes. So thinking about about it what would the outcome have been if I did make a mistake with my key, let me tell you. Nothing at all no one would give a jot not a single tiny jot because we all make mistakes in life and an error on a key while in a CW contact does not even register on the mistake scale.
Relieved excited and pleased with myself has moved me on to over 30 CW contacts in recent weeks.

So I am cheating a little!  because all of the keying is done by me but I do use HRD to assist me with the incoming decoding. I still have not fully got the hang of the audible decoding in my head yet, its getting better but I still need a little help with that.

So if you have the basic hang of CW plug that key in and give it a try I can guarantee its addictive and you will never regret it.
